SEALOFT START-UP

REDUCED MOBILITY

HOUSEBOAT

During my internship at the start-up Sealoft, I was given the task of imagining how to adapt a habitat on the water according to different uses. The agency having already built a first model for tourist or personal use, it was for me to take the dimensions and propose a new layout allowing people with reduced mobility to have access to it. Thus, in this proposal the habitat – boat is arranged so as to allow sufficient space for the circulation of a wheelchair and is based on a principle of modularity.  It has two distinct spaces, one comprising the kitchen and dining room, the other the bedroom which can be converted into a living room by the folds of the bed. When the sliding panels are opened, these two spaces are joined to form a single room spacious enough to receive people. The bed is then folded vertically and reveals modules serving as a bench or coffee table. Each element making up the furniture is designed to be modular and accessible to the resident.
